Thinking Green

We were early advocates of being kind to the environment and our aims are to reduce waste, maximise our recycling programme and to reduce our carbon footprint to zero. No chemicals are used in our printing and our inks are vegetable-based. In 2000 we invested in solar panel technology and now have a 32-panel array that supplies most of the electricity we use. All paper, board, toners and metals are recycled, with plastics sent to a specialised recycler. We use FSC and PEFC certified papers and are currently trialling a plant based biodegradable board for signs and display. Looking after the environment is at the top of our agenda as we constantly evolve and look to the future.

Our Story

Our Managing Director, Martin, looks back on nearly a half century at the helm of Marquee Print

“I started Marquee shortly after I finished a five year apprenticeship as a tin printer. I could see the world was changing, Litho printing was the new force and the American giants Kall Kwik and Prontaprint were changing how print was to be forever. I understood the importance of Instant Print, customers did not want to wait two weeks for their Letterheads and these bright new shiny high street shops advertised a 48 hour turnaround, that’s where I wanted to be! I spent an obscene amount of money to get the first Apple Mac in Bournemouth and we were away. The customers loved the choices that it brought them. Print and Design has always led the way with technological change and it’s up to us to embrace this and present this to our customers in a way that benefits their business and therefore enhances their growth. I still get a ‘buzz’ when I see our work contributing to their success.”

There is plenty more stories where that came from...
